Day of Valor is a public holiday in the Philippines every 9 April tocommemorate the fall of the Bataan peninsula during World War II.
In this event, Filipinos commemorate the heroism of the Filipinopeople during the Japanese occupation back in World War II. It was in April 9, 1942 when US Army MajorGeneral Edward P. King surrendered more than 70,000 Filipino, Chinese, andAmerican soldiers to the Japanese. These soldiers were forced to march fromBagac, Bataan, to Capas, Tarlac for about 90 to 112 kilometers. This marchinvolved deaths from disease, exhaustion and physical abuse, thus named theBataan Death March.
