<br /><blockquote>Japan has begun loosening its rules for applicants of multiple visas who are nationals of the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam, its embassy in Manila said.<br />

In a statement posted on its website, the Japanese Embassy in Manila said that starting Tuesday, &quot;substantial relaxation of multiple visas will commence for these three countries,&quot; which is expected to simplify visa acquisition for them.<br />

Aside from &quot;substantial relaxation&quot; on requirements, the period of validity of the visa will also be extended for up to five years, it said.<br />

Applicants &quot;residing outside of their countries of origin&quot; may apply &quot;at the diplomatic mission&quot; at their place of residence, it added.<br />

The embassy also said that by November, the country will also simplify application procedures for single tourism visas for participants of package tours offered by registered travel agencies.<br />

In June, the Japanese Embassy in Manila announced that Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs approved &quot;substantial relaxations of visa requirements&quot; for tourism visas issued to nationals of the three countries.<br />

The policy move is just an &quot;initial step&quot; of the ministry's &quot;endeavor to realize the exemption of visa requirements,&quot; the embassy also said.<br />

The Japanese Embassy in Manila said these measures were made to help Japan reach its goal of attracting 20 million foreign visitors, &quot;as well as the promotion of people-to-people exchanges.&quot;<br />
